Today is the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste and as a manufacturer of high-quality checkweighers, we’re proud to provide technology that plays a part in reducing waste.
A checkweigher identifies weight deviations and rejects products that fall outside of the legislated weight tolerances. In many cases, the product can be re-filled and re-packed with the correct amount or weight before being distributed.
The deviations also indicate when a filling machine needs adjustment, helping reduce the number of products that are unnecessarily rejected from the production line. Our checkweighers can be used to automatically adjust the filling process.
The United Nations states: “When food is lost or wasted, all the resources that were used to produce this food – including water, land, energy, labour and capital – go to waste” and calls for “the adoption of integrated approaches designed to reduce food loss and waste”.
